Stippling Portrait for My Son's Birthday

This past January, my son turned 2. I'm beginning to understand what terrible 2's are. I could not relate before with other parents, but now I can...lots of crying, smiling, silliness, and testing your patience. Thanks to my wife for playing the piano for background cover music. Song is called "Summer" composed by Joe Hisaishi.

Setsuko from "Grave of the Fireflies"

Grave of the fireflies is probably the most depressing movie I've ever seen. Its a movie I believe you should only see once because its that sad. I'm not sure why I watched it again. This movie makes me think about the innocent children dying because of war, hunger, homeless people, people who complain about little things when some don't even have anything...all at once. I think my sensitivity level have gone up when it comes to children ever since I had a kid of my own and after seeing this movie.

Grave of the fireflies movie came out in 1988. It was a Japanese animated film based on the 1967 semi-autobiographical short story by Akiyuki Nosaka during the second world war. It was written and directed by Isao Takahata and animated by Studio Ghibli.

Its a story about a teenage young boy named (Seita) and his little sister (Setsuko) struggle to survive in Japan during World War II. I can just imagine all the pain, and sadness during those times.
